Finally, a place they can call their own... From the creators of Alessi Fitness and Dr. Derek, We offer fun and innovative programs for kids between the ages of 6 to 14 that build self-esteem and stronger bodies. Our mission is to empower the youth of today and tomorrow, by teaching them the life-long benefits of staying fit, eating right and living a healthy lifestyle.
Alessi Fitness for Kids is an innovative concept that combines all the elements of physical conditioning with a nutrition and health curriculum and is specifically designed for kids. The program is a quality outlet that promotes self-esteem, healthy living and fitness in a fun and positive environment. This is not an open health club for kids. Rather an instructor orientated training facility and program.
Our programs are designed for kids regardless of their current interest or involvement in fitness and sports. Children that may have little interest initially, see amazing results that keep them fit and healthy, while youth athletes see noticeable improvements in their performance.
Our nutrition, health, and fitness programs are specifically designed to meet the physiological needs of adolescent and pre-adolescent bodies, in a fun, exciting environment.
Members and their parents report improved academic and athletic performance, positive social behavior, increased self-esteem, and healthy weight management.
Alessi Fitness for Kids is helping to fight childhood inactivity and is providing an environment where kids feel safe, have fun, and learn how to live a healthy lifestyle!
Designed for Every Type of Kid
The Alessi Fitness for Kids youth resistance training program is offered to youth athletes who want to increase performance and reduce the likelihood of injury and to those kids who just want to feel good about themselves and learn how to live a healthy lifestyle.
How much is a child's health worth? We are not like a gym or a health club! Alessi Fitness for Kids is a "Lifestyle Centers", for kids who have advanced beyond "tumble & roll" and fundamental skills building classes and parents who want to take a more active roll in improving the quality of their children's and their own life.
Members of Alessi Fitness for Kids enjoy a nutrition education curriculum as a standard component to their fitness program. Everything from sports nutrition, food types, healthy eating out, basic cooking lessons and more are included as part of the regular curriculum!
Additionally, members and parents are offered various monthly nutrition events, such as workshops & seminars. Tips, advice and practical information is provided to help create a healthy approach to eating for the family!
Membership includes fun activities and demonstrations that are designed by nutrition expert Dr. Derek
- To teach kids the importance of good nutrition and healthy eating habits
- To empower kids to make wise food choices that will last them a lifetime
Our approach to teaching nutrition is entertaining and fun — using hands-on, creative ways to stress the importance of eating healthy. With games like "The Lunch Trey Relay" and "Race to Protein Peak" your children are learning that play and healthy eating can go hand in hand.
Although weight is an issue for many, we do not put emphasis on weight or weight loss; nor do we place kids on diets. In fact, there is not a scale in sight. Instead, we instill healthy attitudes about food and promote a positive body image.
We teach them that through making good choices, eating healthy (most of the time!) and exercising, their bodies will naturally become healthy and strong. They will look and feel better about themselves. This in turn, helps them to accomplish more in school, on the playground, and at home.
Parents are included in our fitness and nutrition orientation to learn how to follow the Alessi Fitness formula for a healthy family. A nutrition seminar, fun activities and demonstrations are included.
Disturbing Health News
The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that leisure activity among today's children is "increasingly sedentary," with wide availability of entertainment such as television, videos, and computer games.
In addition, with increasing urbanization, there has been a decrease in frequency and duration of physical activities of daily living for children, such as walking to school and doing household chores.
Changes in availability and requirements of school physical education programs have also generally decreased children's routine physical activity, with the possible exception of children specifically enrolled in athletic programs. All these factors play a potential part in the epidemic of overweight. (AAP Policy Statement PEDIATRICS Vol. 112 No. 2 August 2003, pp. 424-430)
The American Dietetic Association indicates that the "health status of US children has generally improved over the past 3 decades; however, the number of children who are overweight more than doubled. This change has broadened the focus of dietary guidance to address nutrient over consumption, physical activity patterns, and the attainment of optimal health through chronic disease prevention." An epidemic of this proportion requires the help of every man, woman and child in our society. Unfortunately, today's highly competitive, technology driven hectic work and home lifestyle means that most moms and dads don't have time to practice good fitness, nutrition and health habits themselves.
For the first time in U.S. history, research shows that if today's obesity epidemic continues, it could cut as much as two to five years from the average life-span of today's youth. This is a complete reversal in life expectancy trends for our modern age!
Furthermore, statistics from a 2003-2004 U.S. Center for Disease Control & Prevention study, shows that more than 12.5 million children and adolescents (17%) in the United States are overweight or obese. Approximately 30% of children between the ages of 6 and 15 are overweight and half of those are considered obese.
There are many adverse health affects to being overweight including, asthma, Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, bone development issues, psychosocial effects, and Sleep Apnea, to name a few.
Alessi Fitness for Kids is the first organization of its kind that has designed a fitness solution for all kids, regardless of their activity level or interest in athletics or organized sports.
Motivation & Achievement System
The Alessi Fitness for Kids is a unique journey that allows members and their parents to track individual progress, while keeping kids engaged in their fitness program.
The goal for each child is to earn the level of an "Alessi Kid Champ". By accumulating merit points that are awarded during training sessions as well as bonus points for work outside the gym, the children are attaining the character traits of a champion. Each class is broken down into training blocks with a different theme in mind. The block themes are Strength, Stamina, Agility, Speed and Intelligence. Points are privately accessed through the Alessi Kids web site or sent through our phone text message system.
Multiple rewards are built in along the way to reinforce the momentum that they have created or to jump start a child that has reach a plateau.
The system consists of levels. It rewards members, while supporting our non-competitive philosophy of personal progress and allows kids of any physical ability from special needs to the youth sports enthusiast (and everyone in between) a shot at "Alessi Kid Champ" status.
This system and our program design make striving for a goal fun, by providing lots of enthusiasm, support and rewards! Every child becomes a champion as long as they stick with it!
